Update: forgot to mention, it still runs and drives

I can’t seem to see the problem here.....
![]() 11/30/2018 at 12:22 |

And here’s the customer screaming about getting it covered by the warranty in 3, 2, 1...

Yes, they’re conspiring to keep your car from exploding.

Also the Earth is flat, Space isn’t real, and Donald Trump, and his compatriots are Lizards. .. okay I can almost believe that one

What stupid fuck buys a mercedes and doesn’t get the oil changed?
I mean, just take the car for service every year. Y
ou don’t even need to know oil needs changing!

Customer: “This car is so unreliable!”
Me: If that car is still running, what is it and where do I buy one?
![]() 11/30/2018 at 12:55 |

Ive heard that. The oil that comes from the factory will last the life of the engine.

I see you've met my previous stepfather. I can't believe his '84 300ZX lasted as long as it did, but it was rekt by the end.

Diesel ML. Never seen one do this before. Usually they just seize when people don't change the oil.

The some of the same stupid fucks who buy large SUVs and then complain about how much they spend on fuel.

Says the guy who’s part of the damn machine.
“Come in so we can take your car to a hidden room where we remove the old fluid and put in “new” f luid that looks, smells and tastes exactly the same” suuuuure My miata is still running on 2002 oil and last time I checked... it still looked like oil.
But for real, what kind of racket was that making?
![]() 11/30/2018 at 13:15 |

The oil that comes from the factory will last the life of the engine.
That is technically correct. (The best kind of correct.)
The life won’t be a long one. It’s kind of like the way every plane continues to fly all the way to the site of the crash.

The shrapnel alone is probably worth around $500.
What for an engine did this come from? Was it old oil and flogging the car?

“ it still runs and drives”
Illuminati confirmed.
![]() 11/30/2018 at 15:27 |

Sounds right. Do you have some practice with this?
![]() 11/30/2018 at 15:30 |
|
For efficiency, we drain oil from one car directly into a car waiting for new oil beneath it!
Sounded like chain slap, not crazy loud and not a heavy knock like you would expect.
![]() 11/30/2018 at 15:31 |

OM642 and yes oil old, consistently overdue for services over the course of its 100k life.
![]() 11/30/2018 at 15:33 |
|
Do you have repeat offenders?
![]() 11/30/2018 at 15:35 |

^actual gif of the engineers that were able to add that kind of sound deadening.
![]() 11/30/2018 at 15:36 |
|
Would that otherwise be a long-lived engine?
What I find befuddling about this is that you are able to state, “consistently over due for services...” That tells me that this guy is paying for services at a real shop over the course of the car’s life; are you working at a dealership? That guy must have more money than sense, or perhaps not enough of either.
![]() 11/30/2018 at 15:45 |
|
Not that I'm aware of
![]() 11/30/2018 at 15:53 |

Depends. But it definitely can be.
I’m a dealer tech, yes. Our pricing is actually competitive and often cheaper than competing independents for the same services. And we’re one of the top ten dealer s in the country for CSI scores. This guy may not have sense, but going to dealers isn't why.
![]() 11/30/2018 at 18:34 |
|
I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that quite the way it looks like it came across. What I am suggesting is that if the guy is
paying a dealer
to service his car, then he’s dumb because he still managed to ruin his own car through neglect.
![]() 11/30/2018 at 18:45 |
|
Ahh ok gotcha. Yeah it came across as the usual internet trope “stealership bad!” sort of thing.
But yeah, totally. The car even tells you that service will be due soon, then service is due, then it's overdue. I don't know how people screw this up.
![]() 11/30/2018 at 20:08 |
|
I mean, it's expensive, but the car should be well maintained.

No idea. Didn’t bother going any further when I found the Piston decided to remodel his home to improve the lighting.

For what its worth, I always have my newer cars done at the dealer unless it is something super simple like tires/wheels/filters (do those myself)
